Loving the Earth Means Taking Real Action

Hotel News \

At The Gaia Hotel Bandung, sustainability has always been about turning mindful intentions into meaningful action.

Over two months, our team collected thousands of plastic bottle caps from waste generated across the hotel. Instead of allowing them to be discarded, the bottle caps were given a second life through a creative repurposing initiative.

The collected caps were transformed into 200 coasters, with each coaster weighing approximately 160 grams. These coasters were then included in our hampers for clients, turning what was once considered waste into something useful and purposeful.

The initiative reflected a simple but meaningful approach to sustainability: finding opportunities to reduce waste, repurpose materials and create something with a new purpose.

From collecting bottle caps across the hotel to transforming them into functional keepsakes, the project was made possible through collective effort. It also showed how small, everyday actions can contribute to a more mindful approach to the environment.

While each coaster may have started with something as ordinary as a bottle cap, together they represented a bigger idea — that sustainability can be woven into the way we work, create and connect with our community.

A small step, shaped together, for a more mindful tomorrow.
